【The inaugural speech of the president Obama】オバマ大統領の就任演説を聞いて

2009年1月21日夜中2時過ぎに、リアルタイムで就任演説を聞きました。
まずは同時通訳なしで英語のみでテレビに見入っていました。
"We" や"for us"の多用がまず耳に残りました。

2009年1月22日（木）西日本新聞の4面に就任演説全文が掲載されたので、全部読んでみました。
気になったところのひとつは、
「われわれは、太陽や風力、大地の恵みを利用して自動車を動かし、工場を稼働させる。」
…自然は「利用」するもので、「共生する」対象にはなっていないなと思いました。
もうひとつ。
「われわれはキリスト教、イスラム教、ユダヤ教、ヒンズー教、そして無宗教の人々の国である。」
…あら、仏教は？ほかの小さな宗教は？
わかりやすく、説得力ある演説にするために省かれた宗教もあるのだなと思いました。

就任演説の前後のニュースで取り上げられていたようにアフリカでの歓喜の熱狂を見たせいでオバマ大統領は全地球的な改革に取り組まれるんだなと思っていたのは、もちろん僕の錯覚でした。

オバマ大統領は、アメリカの大統領ですものね。
強いアメリカを（特に自国の民衆に）再認識させる演説だったと理解しました。

それでも就任直後の「イラク撤退」を指示するなど、火急の課題からすぐに着手する行動はこれからのオバマ氏の仕事に興味を持つのに十分でした。


There are a few things that I found from the president Obama's speech.
First,
"We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. "(Yomiuri)
What he meant here sounds that the nature is to be used for developing industries, not to be lived together.
Second,
"We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus - and non-believers. "(Yomiuri)
Where are Buddhists? And other small religions?
To make the speech easy to understand and to have the power of persuasion, there are some religions abbreviated in the speech, I thought.

After all, the speech is to impress the strong America for people, especially for people of the United States,that's how I understand.

But the rapid action of withdrawing the troops from Iraq right after his inauguration is enough to interest me how he does his duty as a president from now on.
